THE HIGH TECHNOLOGY OF WTD DISPLAYS, IN INDOOR–OUTDOOR DIGITAL SIGNAGE INSTALLATIONS

Riccardo Taccardi, front-man and founder of World Trade Display, an Italian company with over 30 years of experience in the design and production of display & digital signage solutions, tells us about the new business models launched across different market sectors.

What has changed at WTD in recent years?

In the last decades, WTD has moved from European distribution of international brands to the direct design and commercialization through joint ventures with its own Far-East factories of innovative concepts of interactive monitors in the industrial sector under its own WTD brand.

Did the situation created by COVID have an impact?

There has been a very significant evolution during the complicated COVID period: the need to develop new product concepts, such as among others the SUMMUW series Self-Service Ticketing Kiosk, now already integrated with all kinds of possible automated readers and recognition tools, including Webcam, QR code, NFC Card Reader POS, Thermal Printer, to automate payments and product sales transactions within businesses.
Or the interactive whiteboards and high-brightness monitors for shops and storefronts, the so-called Facing Windows Displays, which, integrated into floor-standing units both indoor and outdoor, help spread dynamic messaging even more effectively and seamlessly.

The crisis taught us that we must think in terms of alternative systems, because everyone’s habits are changing.

For this reason, WTD is embracing a new business model designed to meet the continuous transformation of the market and the way new sectors are approached. In fact, World Trade Display has entered with its products and through new industrial clients those unhealthy conditions that emerged after COVID, as well as the retailers who distribute them.

Is there a lot of innovation in this period?

All new concepts of display & digital signage solutions stem from an innovative, essentially digital approach that includes increasingly broad integration of high-tech and high-performance solutions, especially suited for industry and outdoor applications. WTD has always used industrial-grade LCD categories -20°/+70°–105NI Op. Temp. / 700–1000 / 1K Nits / Antivandal / Waterproof / 6mm / Light Sensor to meet even without compromise the most demanding installations in extreme environmental conditions.

Is WTD particularly specialized in outdoor solutions?

Today, everyone offers indoor solutions, including WTD, but it is in outdoor applications that WTD truly expresses its innovation and strength, with industrial projects and innovative solutions. We use panels capable of resisting high temperatures 24 hours a day under direct sunlight without showing the classic Black Screen effect.

How important is competitiveness for you?

World Trade Display has always aimed to be competitive that is, to be a supplier of displays and digital signage with stable organization in Italy but with industrial competitiveness as if the goods came directly from the factory.
This is especially evident in our ability to provide continuous updates in styles, new designs, solutions, and prices, always highly competitive compared to competitors.
Not to mention our main strength: ready availability of goods in such a wide and diversified digital signage market.

Do WTD models also include payment systems?

All new WTD models are equipped with innovative electronic boards that simplify the installation of cashless payment systems.
Likewise, all solutions can be connected to networks via PC Board or Android systems, enabling easy remote management for transferring and updating digital content.

A perfect example is the WTD technical support service

With which each display or totem–kiosk can be monitored in real time through an intuitive interface, allowing simple and quick detection of issues or firmware & driver updates.
Two other highly appreciated features are the WTD lenticular service: the company can produce lenticulars in real time inside its facility or at local markets, enabling effective customization of each single component, with equally fast timing for the installation of suction cups and various devices such as webcams, touch devices, or players.

Have you established new partnerships recently?

In recent years, World Trade Display has also entered into a new and valuable partnership with the renowned Lombard company Camax Srl, which additionally guarantees software support and professional consulting services unparalleled in Italy.

GEN, OPEN FRAME OUTDOOR SOLUTIONS

The interactive open frames of the GEN series stand out because they are equipped with an advanced and innovative cooling fan system already integrated inside, creating a “Fresh-Air” flow between the sensor and the panel generating a Space-Gap essential for the constant long-term operation of the kiosk even at very high temperatures.
Secondly, though no less important, the constant use of industrial panels ensures excellent performance.
WTD has also installed in the GEN solution a special microchip that automatically monitors temperature stability between 28° and 31° to ensure optimal display performance 24 hours a day for 4 days. This function can also be viewed and configured in future files via LEDs and keyboard on the display.
The open frame is composed of a shell-shining perforated aluminum structure to better dissipate heat:
Industrial Panel -20°/+70°–105NI Op. Temp, with configurable twin brightness from 1,000 to 6,000 Nits; Wide Light Sensor to reduce energy consumption over 24 hours; 6–8mm Antivandal, Tempered, Waterproof Touch Screen Sensor; Touch controller EETI or Ilitek.
In this way, it becomes a highly effective tool for anyone wishing to digitalize their service and evolve their business, even in extreme environmental conditions.

WORLD TRADE DISPLAY IS TEAMWORK!

“We strongly believe that collaboration is the key to creating a positive working environment, where everyone supports each other to achieve the goals of our clients’ projects.
At our 1,500 m2 headquarters in Rimini, colleagues work in synergy with our Joint-Venture factories in the Far-East, sharing different professional skills, solving daily challenges, and encouraging creativity in the design of new projects.”

The motherboard market is experiencing a sharp increase in costs, mainly driven by DRAM memory shortages and high chip prices, further aggravated by the surge in demand from the AI sector. This trend, expected to continue until 2028, has led to a significant drop in sales and is forcing a return to older technologies such as DDR4.

Below are the key details regarding the cost increase:

  • Main Causes: Strong demand for Artificial Intelligence (AI) components has led manufacturers to prioritize the production of high-capacity memory, resulting in shortages and higher DRAM costs, which directly impact motherboard prices.
  • Price Impact: Significant price increases are being observed, with some DDR5 kits exceeding USD 600. Analysts forecast a steady upward trend in the long term, estimated through 2028.
  • Market Situation: Rising RAM prices have caused a 40%–50% decline in motherboard sales, described in some sectors as a “memory apocalypse.”
  • Emerging Trends: There is renewed interest in older motherboards and memory technologies, such as DDR4,
due to the prohibitive costs of next-generation platforms.

The situation is critical, with price increases affecting not only key components but the entire PC ecosystem as well, including motherboards, which are also being impacted by memory shortages. Accordingly, due to the ongoing increases in the cost of components and other materials, as previously communicated in our email since February, all prices agreed upon earlier and all quotations issued are no longer to be considered valid.
