WTD PRESENTS THE REVOLUTIONARY OUTDOOR SERIES

World Trade Display, a company known for its innovative and versatile solutions in the Display & Digital Signage Solutions sector, launches three new product lines designed specifically for heavy-duty outdoor applications. These solutions are built on the advanced technology of Industrial LVDS Panels + Air Gap Space with Cooling Fan System, engineered to guarantee maximum efficiency even under direct sunlight and in the most challenging environmental conditions.

The Digital Battle: The War Against the Black-Screen Effect

In the outdoor kiosk industry, a technological battle is underway: the fight against the dreaded black-screen effect, which occurs when non-industrial displays fail under extreme heat and solar exposure. Recent distribution reports show that the outdoor kiosk segment grew by 18.4% compared to 2022, while globally outdoor installations increased by 79% year over year. This rapid expansion has highlighted the limitations of systems built with commercial-grade panels, which struggle to withstand harsh conditions, particularly sunlight and high temperatures.

WTD’s Response: SMAT, EDAR and GEN

To address these emerging needs, World Trade Display has developed three advanced outdoor product lines SMAT, EDAR and GEN each engineered to deliver high reliability and 24/7 operation. These new solutions introduce a set of integrated technologies designed to maintain performance even in the most demanding outdoor environments.

A standout example is the GEN series, created specifically to protect both public and private installations from the Black-Screen phenomenon. GEN revolutionizes the construction methodology of outdoor kiosks, surpassing traditional practices that once required:

  • multiple metal frames
  • numerous cooling fans
  • complex wiring
  • layered assemblies of screws and brackets
  • separate touch screens and LCD panels
  • and extensive manual airflow management

WTD has replaced this outdated and complicated system with a single, factory-built industrial open frame equipped with all the internal technologies required to perform flawlessly even under direct sunlight.

Advanced Integrated Technologies: Air Gap Space and Active Thermal Control

Both the SMAT and GEN series feature an advanced outdoor structure composed of:

  • Wide Industrial Panels operating from –35°C to +85°C
  • 8 mm Air-Gap Space between the panel and PCAP sensor
  • Internal Cooling Fan System pushing constant fresh air from bottom to top
  • Microchip with LED diagnostic display regulating internal temperature
  • Autonomous temperature stabilization between 28°C and 31°C, ideal for outdoor operation

This architecture eliminates the risk of overheating or freezing, improves image clarity, enhances thermal dissipation, and extends the lifecycle of the display.

Drastic Reduction in Production Costs and Assembly Time

One of the most appreciated aspects of WTD’s new outdoor series is their ability to reduce assembly labor costs by over 60%.
Each device requires only 6 mounting screws, making integration vastly simpler compared to traditional systems that rely on numerous separate components.

Furthermore, thanks to efficient thermal management and the Air Gap Space system, energy consumption is reduced by 18–23% compared to multi-component configurations.

The motherboard market is experiencing a sharp increase in costs, mainly driven by DRAM memory shortages and high chip prices, further aggravated by the surge in demand from the AI sector. This trend, expected to continue until 2028, has led to a significant drop in sales and is forcing a return to older technologies such as DDR4.

Below are the key details regarding the cost increase:

  • Main Causes: Strong demand for Artificial Intelligence (AI) components has led manufacturers to prioritize the production of high-capacity memory, resulting in shortages and higher DRAM costs, which directly impact motherboard prices.
  • Price Impact: Significant price increases are being observed, with some DDR5 kits exceeding USD 600. Analysts forecast a steady upward trend in the long term, estimated through 2028.
  • Market Situation: Rising RAM prices have caused a 40%–50% decline in motherboard sales, described in some sectors as a “memory apocalypse.”
  • Emerging Trends: There is renewed interest in older motherboards and memory technologies, such as DDR4,
due to the prohibitive costs of next-generation platforms.

The situation is critical, with price increases affecting not only key components but the entire PC ecosystem as well, including motherboards, which are also being impacted by memory shortages. Accordingly, due to the ongoing increases in the cost of components and other materials, as previously communicated in our email since February, all prices agreed upon earlier and all quotations issued are no longer to be considered valid.
