THE EDAR SERIES EXPANDS

The EDAR series, the most technologically advanced among WTD’s open frame touch and non-touch solutions, expands with a new and innovative industrial version designed to further meet the needs of professional kiosk and totem manufacturers. This evolution introduces an important active space dedicated to the “Air Fresh Gap” function, engineered to circulate cooling air between the panel and the touch glass, significantly improving the system’s thermal management.

The renewed EDAR is the result of years of experience with one of WTD’s best-selling products, now redesigned with a lighter shell, a more sophisticated design, and above all an entirely new mechanical architecture engineered to optimize heat dissipation. Air from the kiosk’s internal Cooling Fan System can now flow freely between the touch glass and the industrial panel, which on its own already supports extreme operating temperatures from –35°C to +80°C. This ensures the display maintains 100% of its efficiency and avoids the problematic “black-screen effect” caused by direct sunlight in continuous 24/7 outdoor installations.

OEM system integrators will particularly appreciate the ability to use this new version of EDAR in demanding outdoor applications, benefiting from an open frame featuring a 6 mm PCAP touch screen, 10 touch points, completely tempered and waterproof. An additional advantage is the ability to install a single front component in the kiosk thanks to the innovative Bezel profile, which provides a clean and professional finish. This results in exceptionally easy installation, reducing integration time and cost compared to traditional solutions that require additional fans or complex internal metal frames.

Made of high-quality aluminum, the renewed EDAR series is available in multiple sizes and offers advanced functionalities easily managed through the OSD keyboard, enabling intuitive configuration for any industrial or commercial application. Moreover, the open frame already includes multiple mounting holes on all four sides, simplifying integration into existing structures or new custom projects.

For all kiosk and totem manufacturers seeking a single, complete component already engineered with dedicated spacing between the touch sensor and the panel, EDAR stands out as the ideal solution, eliminating the need for numerous small fans, complex metal framing, or additional cooling arrangements.

The new EDAR version with “Air Fresh Gap” technology is now officially available within WTD’s wide-range product offering, further consolidating the company’s leadership in the industrial open frame display sector.

The motherboard market is experiencing a sharp increase in costs, mainly driven by DRAM memory shortages and high chip prices, further aggravated by the surge in demand from the AI sector. This trend, expected to continue until 2028, has led to a significant drop in sales and is forcing a return to older technologies such as DDR4.

Below are the key details regarding the cost increase:

  • Main Causes: Strong demand for Artificial Intelligence (AI) components has led manufacturers to prioritize the production of high-capacity memory, resulting in shortages and higher DRAM costs, which directly impact motherboard prices.
  • Price Impact: Significant price increases are being observed, with some DDR5 kits exceeding USD 600. Analysts forecast a steady upward trend in the long term, estimated through 2028.
  • Market Situation: Rising RAM prices have caused a 40%–50% decline in motherboard sales, described in some sectors as a “memory apocalypse.”
  • Emerging Trends: There is renewed interest in older motherboards and memory technologies, such as DDR4,
due to the prohibitive costs of next-generation platforms.

The situation is critical, with price increases affecting not only key components but the entire PC ecosystem as well, including motherboards, which are also being impacted by memory shortages. Accordingly, due to the ongoing increases in the cost of components and other materials, as previously communicated in our email since February, all prices agreed upon earlier and all quotations issued are no longer to be considered valid.
