INTERVIEW WITH RICCARDO TACCARDI – FOUNDER – THE FUTURE OF DIGITAL SIGNAGE IN EUROPE

Riccardo Taccardi is the founder of WTD – World Trade Display, a leading company in the design and commercialization of “Display & Digital Signage Solutions”. In the following interview, he explains the innovations the company introduced throughout 2025 and the expectations for 2026.
In a market defined by rapid growth and innovation, WTD stands out as a trusted partner for European companies, offering an extensive range of cutting-edge solutions designed to meet modern needs.

Can you briefly describe the company and its activities?
World Trade Display has been a leading company for over 30 years in the field of advanced information technology, constantly innovating in the world of “Industrial System-Integrator & Retail” and designing customized solutions for various sectors. For the past 18 years, it has also actively collaborated in joint ventures with several major Far-East factories, creating high-quality solutions and ensuring continuity in the development of products tailored to the specific needs of multiple international markets.

What are the company’s main areas of activity?
WTD primarily serves highly vertical sectors within the “Industrial & Retail” world, such as producers of goods and service vending machines, as well as the Gaming Amusement sector, the Pharmaceutical industry, Retail, and Digital Out of Home (DooH). Thanks to our direct partnership with the factories, we offer scalable, enterprise-level digital signage solutions designed for the most demanding professionals. Our products stand out for their versatility and support a wide range of media players and System-on-Chip (SoC) screens, as well as Android and Windows PC systems, all designed with unique and captivating aesthetics.

What is the current state of the market you operate in?
The digital signage market is expanding rapidly, with steady and significant growth expected in the coming years. Currently, the sector is characterized by a strong demand for integrated solutions that combine hardware and software, driven by technological evolution and the expansion of digital infrastructures. In Italy, as in many other global markets, companies are looking for more effective and engaging ways to communicate with their customers, and digital signage has proven to be a key tool in this context. One of the most interesting aspects is the increasing adoption of digital signage solutions in the retail, corporate, and government sectors, where the ability to customize and manage content in real time is becoming essential.
Furthermore, the integration of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and computer vision is transforming how companies interact with the public, enabling more engaging and targeted experiences. The global digital signage market is highly fragmented but is undergoing a consolidation process, with a growing number of mergers and acquisitions among major players. This trend is particularly relevant for companies seeking to strengthen their market position through the expansion of their solution portfolio and the adoption of innovative technologies.
In summary, the digital signage market is evolving rapidly, driven by technological innovation and the constantly changing needs of companies and consumers. These market dynamics directly influence emerging trends in digital signage, which WTD is anticipating with innovative solutions.

What can you add about market trends?
The future of digital signage will be heavily shaped by artificial intelligence, particularly through computer vision and machine learning. These technologies will enable visual input interpretation from displays, allowing real-time audience analysis and content personalization based on collected data. Machine learning will also help forecast trends and optimize performance, making digital signage more dynamic, effective, and capable of engaging the audience through tailored solutions such as Digital Posters, Indoor & Outdoor Kiosks, and Industrial Displays already offered by WTD.

What is the most innovative product you offer?
Among our most innovative products is definitely the range of Transparent OLED displays, designed with multiple form factors. Our customers can choose between “Stand & Kiosk” versions from 30” to 55” for classic installations, or “Hideable, Cabinet & Robot” models designed for larger environments, where height enhances customer engagement, with sizes ranging from 48” to 77”.
Equally innovative are the new multicolor LED bar displays developed by World Trade Display to make vending machines more attractive. Integrating the eye-catching multicolor bar displays designed under the new WTD concept has been shown to boost sales by increasing user engagement.

Speaking more generally, what product and service ranges does WTD offer?
WTD provides, in collaboration with its factories and other major industry brands such as BOE and AUO, a full range of displays and digital signage solutions, both for indoor and outdoor applications. The various WTD product lines offer easy-to-use embedded displays with a wide range of features and models, including special industrial panels resistant to high temperatures, as well as advanced “Cooling Fan & Air Condition Systems” controlled by microchips. Not to mention the ultraslim open frames, perfect for those product and service vending machines where space is extremely limited.
As for Digital Signage solutions—Floor Standing displays, Digital Posters, LED Walls, Interactive Double-Sided Kiosks, Stretched Displays, and Window-Facing displays—we continue to develop unique concepts with exclusive technical and design features. All these devices can interact with intuitive CMS software capable of recognizing and analyzing audience behavior, monitoring performance in physical spaces, tracking data such as footfall, vehicle counting, waiting and dwell times, as well as programmatic DooH advertising. All these solutions leverage artificial intelligence to increase sales.

What are your expectations for 2025 as the year comes to an end?
For 2025, we expect 10–15% growth thanks to rising demand for integrated digital signage solutions and the continuous technological innovation we provide to our clients. Market trends indicate a further shift toward app-store-like display platforms, enabling third-party providers to integrate specific functionalities and making digital signage increasingly customizable and accessible even for smaller systems.
Another key trend is the growing focus on sustainability. European regulations, such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, are pushing companies to reduce the energy consumption of their digital signage devices. In this context, WTD is at the forefront of offering solutions that enable remote device management to optimize energy use, through the adoption of more efficient displays and the implementation of technologies such as e-paper for static information.
Additionally, 2025 will see greater integration of artificial intelligence not only in content creation but also in user engagement. This technology will enable interactive and personalized customer experiences, improving the effectiveness of digital signage campaigns. With the market expansion and the increased adoption of these technologies across retail and corporate sectors, WTD is ready to lead this transformation.

And looking ahead to 2026?
WTD has a clear vision of the future of Digital Signage. We expect these trends to keep growing, with further market expansion driven by new AI-powered solutions and wider adoption of digital signage across retail, corporate, and industrial sectors. Retail Media, in particular, is becoming one of the most effective and targeted advertising channels. These forecasts fit within a rapidly evolving market environment that WTD continues to monitor closely to stay ahead of the curve.
We are ready to address the challenges of the digital signage market by offering innovative and sustainable solutions. With significant growth projections and a clear understanding of future trends, WTD is positioned as a leader in the international sector.

Since 2025, World Trade Display has expanded its range of Display & Digital Signage Solutions, also commercializing products natively inspired by the “Consumer Concept”. Digital transformation is now a fact that cannot be ignored. Companies that wish to remain competitive and develop new business models must integrate solutions derived from the consumer world into their processes, allowing users to operate across different device types and enabling the adoption of new governance models, technological infrastructures, and end-user-style services.
Riccardo Taccardi, founder of World Trade Display, invites all interested companies to explore the potential of digital signage and get in touch with the company’s marketing division to discover how WTD can help transform their visual communication into effective system-integrator solutions.

The future of digital signage according to Riccardo Taccardi
In the next three years, Digital Signage will evolve along three main directions: AI-generated and AI-adapted intelligent content, hybrid remote management with ERP integration to display real-time KPIs and data, and more efficient, sustainable hardware (micro-LED, e-paper). Interactive solutions (touch, AR/VR, mobile) and deployment automation will continue to grow. The result will be more contextual, measurable communication, fully integrated into business processes.
